5 Ways to Get the Most from Your Teerless™ Filter
Tip 1: Insert Fully — Don't Half-Insert
Push your cigarette all the way into the Teerless™ filter until the tip of the cigarette is flush with the inner ledge. A partial insertion creates a gap that allows unfiltered smoke to bypass the carbon layer. Full insertion ensures 100% of smoke passes through both filtration stages.
Tip 2: Smoke Slowly for Maximum Adsorption
The activated carbon layer needs contact time to adsorb volatile compounds. A slow, steady draw (2–3 seconds per puff) gives the carbon layer sufficient time to capture tar particles. Fast draws reduce effective tar removal by up to 20%.
Tip 3: Watch the Colour — Replace at Full Saturation
Teerless™ filters darken visibly as they absorb tar: pale grey (new) → light brown (2–3 uses) → mid brown (4–5 uses) → deep dark brown (replace now). Do not wait until the filter looks completely black — replace when uniformly deep brown for consistent protection.
Tip 4: Store in a Cool, Dry Place
Activated carbon is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the air. Store your Teerless™ filters in the provided packaging or a sealed container. Moisture-exposed filters lose approximately 30% of their adsorption capacity before use. Keep away from direct sunlight.
Tip 5: Never Wash — Discard Instead
Washing a spent Teerless™ filter does not restore it. Water damages the carbon pore structure and can introduce mould spores. A saturated filter costs approximately €0.014 — simply discard it and use a fresh one. The 1200-pack provides excellent economy for this replacement frequency.
